Drive By Wire

Tailor-made DbW systems for vehicle control. Applicable for remote control, testing, development, and prototype vehicles.

Highlights

  • • One platform, multiple redundancy.
  • • Full electrical control. Responsive, precise, and adaptive.
  • • Fast, redundant, and built for the unpredictable.
  • • Force feedback with instant response.

Description

Drive by Wire, DbW or Steer by Wire is the modern technology in the automotive industry that uses electromechanical systems to control the functions that have traditionally been operated with purely mechanical linkages.

Safety

Our systems are built and engineered to ensure full functionality, comply with applicable regulations, and maintain redundancy under all conditions:
Fail-operational: Full control maintained in all situations.Quadruple redundancy: ECUs, sensors, and actuators are protected and monitored through multiple layers.

< 10 FIT total system: Very high operational reliability with fewer than 10 static fault indications per one billion operating hours.

This means maximum availability, in all situations, under all circumstances.

Approvals

ISO 26262 (ASIL D) - The highest level of functional safety for vehicles on public roads.

ICE 61508 (SIL3) - Industrial standard for electrical and electronic safety systems
ISO 21434 - Regulations regarding cybersecurity for connected vehicles.
UNECE R79/FMVSS 126 - Global compliance for steering and stability systems.

TÜV certification for special vehicles.

Systems are approved for use on public roads within the vehicle categories M1, M2, M3, N1, N2, N3

Applications

Automotive industry - Concept vehicles, prototypes, test platforms.

Defense and military - UGVs, tactical convoys, rescue vehicles.

Mining and construction - Vehicles for inspection and missions in hazardous environments.

Logistics and transport - Autonomous or remotely controlled vehicle solutions.

Public transport - Autonomous passenger transport within cities, airports, trade fairs, etc.

Commercial vehicles - Exhibition vehicles, demo vehicles, and custom-built vehicles for film production.

Operation

Take control of the vehicle exactly as you wish:

-Retain the vehicle’s original controls to apply a safety driver.

-Install your own system for evaluation and let us provide the redundancy.

-Control via digital inputs such as 2- or 4-way joysticks.

-Control and operate the system via CAN communication for autonomous or remotely controlled solutions.

-Retain vehicle dynamics with the help of advanced force feedback technology for an alternative driver position or remote control with steering wheel and pedals.
